Spiti Valley at 3,800m experiences one of the most extreme temperature ranges of any inhabited region in India. Winter (November to March) sees nighttime temperatures of -25 to -30 degrees C — only for experienced cold-weather travellers but rewarded with snow leopard sightings and complete solitude. Summer (June to September) brings comfortable daytime temperatures of 15 to 25 degrees C and is the prime trekking season. Autumn (October) offers beautiful post-monsoon clarity and thinning crowds.
