Day 1

Delhi to Shimla (overnight train)

Kalka Mail overnight from Delhi. Arrive Shimla morning.

Day 2

Shimla to Reckong Peo via Narkanda

Drive through apple orchards and Kinnaur landscapes to Reckong Peo.

Day 3

Reckong Peo to Kaza (3,800m)

Long scenic drive via Nako Lake and Sumdo into the stark Trans-Himalayan landscape. Arrive Kaza.

Day 4

Key Monastery and Kibber Village

Visit Key Gompa (4,166m). Explore Kibber (4,270m). Evening briefing for snow leopard tracking.

Day 5

Snow Leopard Tracking at Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary

Full day with local guide in Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary u2014 the world's highest density snow leopard habitat. Follow bharal herds, look for pugmarks on frozen ridges.

Day 6

Langza and Komic u2014 Fossil Villages

Explore fossil-rich Langza (4,400m) and Komic (4,587m) u2014 one of the world's highest permanently inhabited villages.

Day 7

Chandratal Lake (4,300m)

Drive to the crescent-shaped Chandratal Lake. Short walk around the frozen lake. Stunning winter silence.

Day 8

Pin Valley National Park

Wildlife safari in Pin Valley u2014 habitat of snow leopard and Himalayan ibex. Visit Pin Monastery.

Day 9

Kaza to Delhi via Shimla

Begin return. Overnight drive or bus. Arrive Delhi morning. End of expedition.
